The organisation manages the engineering of water transmission and distribution systems, water treatment plants, underground and elevated reservoirs, group housing projects commercial complexes, pre-cast design and construction and road construction.
As a multifunctional construction and infrastructure development specialist, the company works from various locations and needed to connect its regional offices to a private online network. The key objective, in this case, was to give the teams working from these locations secure access to the applications used in routine operations.

Business Challenges
The enterprise had to bring six regional offices on a common network with a bandwidth requirement of 10 to 50 Megabits per Second (MBPS). The workplaces were using Systems Applications and Products (SAP) High-Performance Analytic Appliance (HANA) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications for different business functions and they wanted secure access to such Cloud resources. The basic internet services being used at work locations did not provide adequate speed and security to maintain high levels of operational efficiency.
Some other business challenges also prompted the company to upgrade from a public data service to MPLS based VPN:
- The network availability was not reliable as it was not guaranteed by a ServiceLevel Agreement (SLA) and was only maintained on a ‘best-effort’ basis.
- During peak usage hours, there was no way to prioritise the functioning of mission-critical applications that demanded more bandwidth and speed.
- In the absence of a private enterprise network, it was difficult to ensure secure access to Cloud services if the number of users across offices increased, or if more workplaces wanted to provide access to enterprise applications.
For safe and productive digital work processes, it was essential to have an MPLSbased VPN for all six offices and keep the flexibility to add more work sites onto the same when required.
TTBS Solution
Our solution architects leveraged Smart VPN to connect the company’s offices using MPLS Layer 3 (L3) VPN technology. They used the hub and spoke topology that relies on a strong MPLS structure to facilitate access to Cloud applications and other resources stored in the head office’s data centre.
With Smart VPN, the issues that affected the routine workflows earlier were addressed:
- TTBS built a low-latency and high-throughput network with SLA-backed uptime of more than 99%.
- If there was a congestion issue due to the simultaneous usage of multiple applications, the network administrators could route the delay-resistant traffic through an alternate path to ensure maximum speed for mission-critical applications.
- The organisation’s private network was now also readily scalable to support a bigger number of users in future and to add more sites when necessary.
