The organisation is a multi-state cooperative society registered with the Central Registrar of Cooperatives and has been providing numerous financial services to its members since its inception. Its solutions include gold loans, business funding, small value loans and facilities for fixed deposits, recurring deposits and savings deposits.
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Kottayam, Kerela, this cooperative society has more than one lakh shareholder members and aims to accelerate the economic development in the region by catering to the diverse needs of all the customers who seek its services.
Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) had the opportunity to serve the organisation when it had to connect its multiple branches spread across Kerela and Karnataka. It sought a virtual private network on which teams working from different locations could securely access the necessary data stored in central servers.
There was also a need to access Cloud applications without the risks of cyber threats.
The Smart VPN solution offered by TTBS is a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) based Virtual Private Network (VPN) system with the Quality of Service (QoS) to efficiently manage traffic while securing the online processes. The company’s Information Technology (IT) team liked its features.
TTBS’ presence in the market and its reputation for professional services were some other reasons that convinced the decision makers to procure the networking solution from us.
Business Challenges
The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the way organisations operate, and for those that were not well connected to their branch offices, it also created some new challenges.
Businesses realized that it was critical to establish private connectivity between their teams, bypassing the vagaries of basic internet services.
The organisation’s aim while adopting a VPN solution was to ensure that all its offices providing loan and deposit services to customers could use the centralised Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The data related to any transaction had to be synced and updated in real time for all branches.
TTBS was also expected to address some other issues with its MPLS-based VPN service:
- As the branches were accessing sensitive financial information online, it was essential to keep the channel secure.
- The organisation’s IT managers wanted to monitor the performance of applications and traffic movement on a private network.
- Over 100 locations had to be seamlessly connected with a focus on efficient last-mile connectivity and maximum uptime.
In addition, the organsiation wanted the network to be seamlessly scalable to add new branches to the VPN without any major changes in the core IT infrastructure.
TTBS Solution
Our solution architect deployed TTBS Smart VPN with router bundling to connect all the branches through a hub & spoke model. To manage network traffic effectively, our team upgraded the bandwidth of the Internet Leased Line (ILL) provided by TTBS to the organisation. With this configuration, all branches could stay connected to the hub location without much latency or jitter and ensure speedy transfer of data packets.
The challenges faced by the multi-state co-operative society were addressed effectively:
- The Secure Connect element of our Smart VPN built a private, dedicated and reliable network connection, ensuring that all the teams could access their internal ERP applications and other Cloud apps without the threat of cyberattacks and data theft attempts.
- The IT administrators had a Do It Yourself (DIY) management portal that not only helped to monitor network performance but also enabled them to prioritise bandwidth-hungry applications including audio-video conferencing for maximum efficiency.
- Thanks to the agility of Internet Protocol (IP) VPN, our solution was highly scalable to support network expansion without capital expenditure on complex equipment and IT hardware.
We delivered the solution with an end-to-end Service-Level Agreement (SLA) for guaranteed uptime and mean time to resolve any network issue. TTBS also offers round-the-clock support for technical queries.
