TTML was incorporated as Hughes Ispat Limited on March 13, 1995, under the Companies Act, 1956 and was renamed to Hughes Tele.com (India) Limited with effect from April 26, 2000, to reflect it's unique broadband positioning. Effective February 13, 2003, it has been renamed to Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited.

TTML had its IPO through the book building route in August-September 2000. The deemed date of allotment was September 25, 2000, and the stock was listed and first traded on October 26, 2000.

Share Transfer System : In accordance with amendments to Regulation 40 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, physical transfer of shares is not permitted with effect from April 1, 2019. Therefore, requests for transferring physical shares in Form SH-4 will not be accepted by the Company and/or its Registrar and Share Transfer Agent. However, transmission and transposition of shares in physical form are permitted.
As regard transfers of dematerialized shares, the same can be effected through the dematerialized accounts of the transferor/s and transferee/s maintained with recognized Depository Participants.
